Laker Golf Competes at SVSU Spring Invitational

GEORGETOWN, Ky. - The Lake Superior State (LSSU) men's and women's golf teams competed at the 2024 SVSU Spring Invitational on Saturday and Sunday.

 

Men

Charley Stephen (Oshawa, Ont.) and Collin Pajot (Brighton, Mich.) had the best showings of the weekend for the Laker men's team, finishing at +15 after two rounds with a two-day total of 159 strokes. Jackson Theiler (Colorado Springs, Colo.) placed third amongst his teammates, but he had a very strong opening round on Saturday, completing the first 18 holes in 76 shots. Charles Johnson (Green Bay, Wis.) and Yongbo Guan (Quingdao, China) finished tied at 167 strokes after two rounds.

 

Women

On the women's side, Keira Cotter (Etobicoke, Ont.) used a four-stroke improvement on the second round to finish first amongst her teammates with a two-day total of 166. Lekisha Sasitharan (Shah Alam, Malaysia) and Marie Mathieu (Marshall, Mich.) would then complete all 36 holes with respective totals of 171 and 173. Natalie Kellogg (Montague, Mich.), Mackenzie Davidson (Rockford, Mich.), and Jesse Hellebuyck (Almont, Mich.) rounded out the event for the women's team with respective two-date scores of 178, 179, and 186 shots.

Both golf programs return to action on Friday, March 22 when they compete at the 2024 Klash in Kentucky.
