Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. - Lake Superior State University athletic director Dr. David Paitson has announced the hiring of the men's and women's golf coaching staff for the 2019-20 athletic seasons.
Tony Crisp will serve as head women's and men's golf coach, Brent Pusch will serve as assistant coach/recruiting coordinator, and Gavin MacIver will join as a volunteer student assistant coach.
Crisp enters his third year with the Lake Superior Golf program and his first year as head coach. A 2001 graduate of LSSU, Crisp was a four year member of the golf team. He has served in a volunteer capacity the last two seasons. Crisp also works for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

The Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. native started his playing career at the original Sault Ste. Marie Country Club and continued on to be a four-year letter winner at Sault Area High School. Crisp won 2 MHSAA tournaments and made 5 All-Tournament teams in his high school career.
In 2010, Crisp was appointed boys and girls head golf coach at Sault Area High School. Crisp quickly developed the team making it a viable program for over 15 players annually.
Pusch rejoins the LSSU golf staff after a two-year absence. He had served as head coach of the men's team from 2012-2016 and head coach of the women's team from 2014-2016 before taking on a full time faculty position with LSSU. Pusch recently took a full time faculty role at Sault College in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario and will assist the golf team on a part-time basis. Pusch has an extensive background in golf as he has spent the past 23 years as a PGA teaching professional at golf academies throughout Ontario, Colorado and Arizona.
A graduate of Ferris State University's professional golf management program, Pusch pursued a career in professional golf. Pusch turned pro in the spring of 1998, and began to teach golf while working for Marriott Golf and completing the Golf Digest training program.Since 2002, Pusch has gone on to work as a PGA head teaching professional at several facilities.
From 2012-13, Pusch was an assistant coach with the U17 Team Ontario. He is currently completing training and certifications in coaching at an elite performance level.
MacIver completes the coaching staff as he will act as a volunteer student assistant coach. A 2019 graduate of Lake Superior State, MacIver was a four year member of the golf team. MacIver served as team captain his junior and senior years.
