ALLENDALE, Mich. - The Lake Superior State (LSSU) men's basketball team (19-7, 11-5 GLIAC) fell to the Lakers of Grand Valley State (GVSU) (12-14, 9-7 GLIAC) by a final score of 93-75 on Saturday.
GVSU opened up the scoring with a three, but LSSU countered with an 8-0 run to start the game behind threes from Hunter Soper (Lexington, Mich.) and Tyson Edmondson (Ypsilanti, Mich.). However, Grand Valley was able to come back and go on a run of their own to pull ahead despite multiple threes from Xander Okerlund (Empire, Mich.) as the Lakers found themselves trailing by 15 points at the half.
LSSU opened up the second half strong with a tough bucket inside from Kingsley Perkins (Ypsilanti, Mich.) and multiple threes from Edmondson, but GVSU was able to respond, holding LSSU at bay to weather the storm before ultimately holding on for the victory despite 10 second half points from Adam Harakow (Edmonton, Alta.).
Edmondson led the Lakers in scoring with 19 points while Harakow, Devin Womack (Ypsilanti, Mich.) and Okerlund also finished the day in double figures.
The Lakers will be looking to bounce back on Thursday, Feb. 29 when they return to Bud Cooper Gymnasium to host the Pride of Purdue Northwest with tipoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
