Perkins Named GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week

BAY CITY, Mich. - Junior forward Kingsley Perkins (Ypsilanti, Mich.) has been named the GLIAC Men's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season, as announced by the conference office on Monday.

Perkins anchored the Lakers' defense to a pair of wins over Grand Valley and Davenport, totalling six blocks on the week, including a career-high four rejections on Saturday. His efforts on the defensive end of the floor helped to hold Grand Valley to a season-low 55 points, nearly 20 points below their season average, before holding the Panthers to their second-lowest scoring total of the season by only allowing 61 points. He also ended several possessions on the glass with 12 defensive rebounds, including a team-high eight boards on Saturday.

Perkins and the Lakers return to action on Thursday, Jan. 25 when they travel to take on the Saginaw Valley State Cardinals with tipoff scheduled for 8 p.m.
