PREVIEW: Lakers to Face Division I Eastern Michigan

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - The Lake Superior State (LSSU) men's basketball team (4-0) is set to face NCAA D1 Eastern Michigan (4-3) on Friday, Dec. 1 at 7 p.m.

The Lakers enter the contest seeking their first 5-0 start since the 2013-14 season in which they opened the season 6-0, and they are coming off of a 13-point victory over the Quincy Hawks in Kalamazoo, Mich.

LSSU currently has five players averaging double-digit scoring, led by the duo of Tyson Edmondson (Ypsilanti, Mich.) and Xander Okerlund (Empire, Mich.) who average 18.5 and 13.3 points per game, respectively, with Edmondson also hitting on 48 percent of his three-point attempts. Meanwhile, the Laker defense is anchored by Kingsley Perkins (Ypsilanti, Mich.) who averages 8 rebounds, 1.5 steals, and 1.5 blocks in addition to his 12.8 points per game on the offensive end of the floor. 

The Eastern Michigan Eagles are coming off of a 1-1 showing at the Central Arkansas Classic this past weekend. They opened the classic with a 74-71 victory over the host school before narrowly falling by a score of 72-70 the following day to North Dakota. The Eagles' offense runs through Tyson Acuff who averages 22.6 points per game with the only other Eagle averaging double-digit scoring being Arne Osojnik at 10.7.
