Men's Basketball Wraps up Home Play for the Year with a Non-Conference Game Against No. 15 Indianapolis

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - The Lake Superior State University men's basketball team will close out its 2019 home schedule with a non-conference game against No. 15 Indianapolis at 7:00 p.m. in the Bud Cooper Gymnasium on Tuesday, Dec. 17. 

The Lakers

Heading into the non-conference meeting, the Lakers hold a 5-4 overall record and a 2-1 record in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play after dropping Saturday's game to No. 11 Ferris State at home. The Lakers are led by senior forward Ke'Montrece Collins who averages 18.1 points per game to lead the Lakers and posted his fourth consecutive game with 20 or more points as he put up 23 points against the Bulldogs last weekend. Collins also leads the team in rebounds per game (7.9). The Lakers have seen strong performances from freshman Xander Okerlund, who averages 10.2 points per game and a 52.5 shooting percentage, and sophomore C.J. Robinson who leads the team in minutes per game (34.7) and averages 9.4 points per game. 

The Lakers are averaging 79.6 points per game this season with a 44.3 shooting percentage and 33.6 rebounds per game. 

#15 Indianapolis Greyhounds

The Greyhounds are ranked 15th nationally as the team has posted a 7-1 overall record and an 0-1 record against conference GLVC games. Indianapolis has four players who average over 10 points per game this season and are led by junior forward Trevor Lakes who averages 16.0 points per game and 6.8 rebounds to lead the Greyhounds. Senior guard Jimmy King averages 14.4 points per game and his 57.1 shooting percentage ranks first on the team. Jordache Mavunga (13.6 points per game) and Marcus Latham (12.3 points per game) round out the top four point scorers for Indy.

Indianapolis is averaging 83.6 points per game this season with a 50.5 shooting percentage and 33.9 rebounds per game.

The Lakers will close out the calendar year with a non-conference game against Lewis on Tuesday, Dec. 17 in the Bud Cooper Gymnasium. The game is set for a 7:00 p.m. tip-off.
