Collins Named GLIAC North Player of the Week

GLIAC Release

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – Lake Superior State student-athlete Ke'Montrece Collins has been named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men's Basketball North Division Player of the Week, as announced by GLIAC conference officials on Monday afternoon.

Collins, a senior forward from Toledo, Ohio, led the Lakers to a pair of conference wins at home this weekend over No. 10 Ashland University and Wayne State. Collins posted a career best 29 points in Lake State's 99-69 upset against the Eagles to secure the Lakers first conference win of the season.

Collins would close out the weekend by recording 20 points in Saturday's 67-63 win over Wayne State to give the Lakers a weekend GLIAC sweep. In the pair of games, Collins converted on 50.8 percent of his shots from the field and 49.3 percent of his three point attempts.

The criminal justice major totaled 19 rebounds this weekend, including 15 in the victory over Wayne State. This season, Collins leads the Lakers in scoring as he averages 17.5 points per game, which is eighth among all GLIAC players.

It is the first Player of the Week honor for Lake Superior State in men's basketball this season.

Collins will look to continue his conference success this Saturday, Dec. 14 as the Lakers host the No. 23 Ferris State Bulldogs at home. The game will be played in the Bud Cooper Gymnasium with a 3:00 p.m. tip off.
