Williams Named GLIAC North Player of the Week

BAY CITY, Mich.— Lake Superior State's Akaemji Williams was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Conference North Division Player of the Week for the first time this season.

The Pontiac, Mich., native averaged 28 points, a 56.3 field goal percentage, 5.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 3.0 steals in two non-conference games at the Don Callan Classic over the weekend.

Williams, a senior, posted a season-high 27 points in a, 78-73, win over No.20-ranked Findlay on Friday (Nov.17). He finished with 29 points in a closely contested, 83-78, loss to host Cedarville on Saturday (Nov.18).

For the season, Williams is averaging a team-leading 24.8 points per contests, 55.2 shooting percentage and 6.0 assists per game.

Williams surpassed the 1,500 career point mark this weekend (1,517) putting him No.11 in Laker History behind Ryan Kuhl (1,545).

The Lakers are back in action this weekend as they play Delta State (Nov.24) and Shorter (Nov. 25) in the Kentucky Wesleyan Thanksgiving Classic.

LSSU returns to Bud Cooper Gymnasium (Nov.30) at 7:30 p.m. as they host Ashland to open GLIAC competition.
