Laker Track and Field Compete at Jack Skoog Open

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - The Lake Superior State track and field program competed at the Jack Skoog Open on Saturday.

Carter Oshelski (Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.) earned a top-ten finish in the 200m race with a time of 23.95, and he would go on to place second in the 400m with a time of 54.22, beating out teammate Michael Sherman (Boyne City, Mich.) by 0.21 seconds. 

Ryan O'Neill (Perry, Mich.) picked up top-ten finishes in both the 800-meter (9th) and the mile (5th). Meanwhile, Ethan Nachazel (East Jordan, Mich.) and Roy Bowman (Jerome, Mich.) were also among the first ten to cross the finish line in the mile with respective times of 4:45.33 and 4:45.96.

Aaron Nachazel (East Jordan, Mich.) and Skylar Williams (Battle Creek, Mich.) rounded out the day for the men's runners in the 3000-meter run with respective times of 9:47.18 and 10:17:77.

Noah Murray (Macomb) and Riley Traver (Hartford, Mich.) would have a strong day in the high jump, each placing in the top-three after clearing respective heights of 1.83 and 1.80 meters.

Ryan Reiniche (Hillsdale, Mich.) would then close out the day for the men with a third-place worthy distance of 14.27m in the shot put before earning a 7th place finish in the weight throw with a distance of 12.38m.

On the women's side, Jayda Williams (Claxton Bay, Trinidad) earned a 7th place finish in the 60-meter dash in a time of 8.55 with Katie Woodruff (Grand Rapids, Mich.) only trailing less than a second behind.

In the 3000-meter run, Julie Sheehy (Walkerville, Mich.) posted a personal best time of 12:34.89. 

Keira Lamming picked up a 7th place finish with a personal record performance in the 60-meter hurdles (10.56).

Jayda Williams also competed in the long jump where she cleared a distance of 4.94 meters, securing a third place finish in the event.

Ava Donmyer (Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.) was the Lakers' top performer in the women's shot put, tossing for a distance of 9.58m, and Janelle Docter (Howard City, Mich.) reached the finals in the weight throw with a personal best throw of 13.09m.
