SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - The Lake Superior State University men's and women's track and field teams will travel to Kalamazoo, Michigan, this weekend to cap off the regular season at Western Michigan University before heading to the conference meet next week.

Field Events

Competition will take place both Friday and Saturday, as a majority of the Laker throwers will take the sector Friday morning and afternoon. On the women's side, Jenna Fleming, coming off an impressive victory at last week's Al Owens Invite at Grand Valley, will take the stage to compete in javelin once again. She will be joined by Bethany Wilson, who will also compete in the discus on Saturday. Wilson will be joined by Brittney Ryan and Maddison Gould Saturday, both of which are also competing in the hammer throw Friday afternoon. Also Friday, men's throwers Ryan Reiniche and Timothy Howes will compete in the hammer throw, with Howes likely placing well in men's javelin to follow. Reiniche will throw the discus Saturday after an impressive 44.59 meter personal best last week. Kamuran Ramadanov will throw both discus and shot put Saturday, looking to cap off a great first collegiate year.

In the other field events Saturday, Breanyl Baker and Jayda Williams will compete in women's long jump. Following the event, Williams will switch gears and compete in the women's triple jump. Also competing in the triple jump will be Riley Traver, who will take part in high jump as well with Noah Murray. Murray will also compete in the men's pole vault. Rounding out the Laker field events is Riley Nichols in the men's long jump.

Running Events

For the running events - where many Lakers are looking to either cap off their season with a strong end or tune up before the final conference meet next weekend. On the women's side of the meet, Sarah Votruba and Kara Mosher will race the 200m dash. Votruba looks to break 30 seconds in the event.  In the 400m dash, Sofia Salazar and Sydney Kapushinski will both run with the likes of many talented Division 1 athletes to push them to personal bests. The women's 1500m run is loaded with Lakers - including Josie Morrow, Leah Bell, Olivia Stevens, Kate Baker, and Katelyn Moore. They look to work together towards new personal bests. The women will also run both a 400m with Williams, Salazar, Mosher, and Breanyl Baker, as well as the 1600m relay with Salazar, Kapushinski, Mosher, and Morrow, respectively.

The men will have a Laker in all but one event at the Jack Shaw Invitational. The 100m dash will be run by Nik Curlett, who will also be running the 200m dash. He will be joined by Blake Dunning, Dwayne Thompson, and Eric Somsky in the 200. Somsky will be the lone Laker in the 400m dash. The men will take up five of seven entries in the 800m run with Roy Bowman, Ryan O'Neill, Micheal Sherman, Aaron Nachazel, and Skylar Williams all taking part. All but Sherman will first race the 1500m run, accompanied by reigning GLIAC Athlete of the Week David Mitter, who is looking to take down the school record (3:50.68, set by Hall of Famer Anthony Pavicic in May 2005). The 5,000 meter race will include the likes of Kendal Delpiere, Ethan Nachazel, and Reese Camp, all of whom are looking to improve from their first 5k outings of the season from last weekend. Andrew Giddens will compete in both the 110 high hurdles and the 400m intermediate hurdles. The men will also race in both the 400m relay with Sherman, Murray, Nichols, and Giddens, as well as the 1600m relay with Sherman, Mitter, O'Neill, and Giddens, respectively.
