Laker Athletics Names Liam Cound Strength and Conditioning Coach

SAULT STE. Marie, Mich. – Liam Cound has been named the Lake Superior State University (LSSU) Strength and Conditioning Coach, as announced by the athletic department on Friday.

"I am very grateful for the opportunity to work with such amazing staff at LSSU," said Cound. "I cannot wait to get to Sault Ste. Marie!"

Cound brings three years of experience in the field of strength and conditioning, including assisting with the administration of training programs for NCAA Division I athletes while interning with the University of Iowa Olympic Strength and Conditioning program. He has also served as a Graduate Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at Harding University where he was responsible for all aspects of strength and conditioning for baseball, volleyball, women's golf, and both men's and women's tennis programs.

While working on his undergraduate degree, Cound played for the ACHA Division II club hockey program at the University of Iowa which will allow him to better understand and best serve the demands of a student-athlete, especially with the NCAA Division I ice hockey program at LSSU.

He has also led fitness classes and coached AthleteXL, a program designed to supplement training of high school aged athletes.

Cound is a graduate of the University of Iowa, and he will receive a master's degree in sport and exercise science from Harding University on Saturday, May 6 prior to his arrival in the Soo.
