LSSU Athletics Hall of Famer Jason Bingaman to be Inducted into Jim Koch Division II Hall of Fame

MANHEIM, Pa. – Lake Superior State Athletics Hall of Famer, Jason Bingaman, is set to be inducted into the 2023 class of the Jim Koch Division II Wrestling Hall of Fame, as announced by the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA).

Bingaman, a two-time NCAA Division II Heavyweight National Champion and four-time All-American, won his first title in the 285 pound weight class as a sophomore in 1992 before proceeding to win a second-consecutive title in 1993. He was also a national runner-up as well as being named the 1994 Regional Wrestler of the Year as a senior, and he had previously been named the top collegiate freshman heavyweight by Amateur Wrestling News in 1991 after placing sixth nationally. He is the LSSU career leader in pins with 51, and he posted a career record of 129-33-3 in a Laker uniform.

Bingaman also found success in Greco Roman style at the 1991 Espoir World Championships and the 1993 University Nationals and Olympic Sports Festival, earning silver medals in each competition.

Bingaman was inducted into the Lake Superior State Athletics Hall of Fame in 2005.

The Jim Koch Hall of Fame Class of 2023 will be inducted at the NWCA Convention on July 28, 2023 at the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina. For a full list of the 2023 class, click here.
