Laker Athletics Announces the Hiring of Claire Meyer

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - The Lake Superior State University Athletic Department has hired LSSU alum, Claire Meyer as Assistant Athletic Trainer, as announced by LSSU Athletic Director, Dr. Dave Diles on Monday.

"I'm excited to welcome Claire, a recent graduate of LSSU, back to campus as an Athletic Trainer this fall," said Head Athletic Trainer, Becky Nason. "I look forward to working with her to ensure the health and safety of our student athletes."

After earning her bachelor's degree in kinesiology at LSSU, Meyer recently received her master's degree in athletic training from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. At UWM, she completed clinical rotations with Hartford High School in Hartford, Wis. as well as the Penn State hockey program in State College, Pa.

"While an undergraduate at LSSU, Claire was a dedicated and committed student-trainer who showed great passion for athletic training," said Head Hockey Coach, Damon Whitten. "We were impressed with her commitment and development during the hiring process, and we look forward to the season ahead with Claire as she makes her return to the Soo and Laker Athletics."
