Laker Athletics Announces Fall 2018 GPA of 3.115

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – Lake Superior State University Athletics announces that the cumulative weighted grade point average for all student-athletes for the Fall 2018 semester is 3.115.

This is a slight improvement from the 3.112 weighted GPA that Lake State student-athletes garnered for the 2017-18 academic year and reflects upon the continued gradual improvement in years past (3.084 in 2016-17 and 3.056 in 2015-16).

Student-athletes are above the campus average in GPA, which was 2.77 for the Fall 2018 semester.

Men's golf leads all sports with a 3.463 GPA, followed by hockey at 3.413 and women's varsity basketball at 3.401.

Hockey has posted a significant improvement across the past year with their 3.413 mark. During the 2017-18 academic year, they had a 3.0419 weighted GPA, broken up as 3.134 in the Fall and 2.94 in the Spring. In the Fall 2018 semester, five LSSU hockey players recorded a 4.0 GPA.

"I'm proud of our student-athletes and their academic accomplishments across this past semester," said Dr. David Paitson, Director of Athletics at Lake Superior State. "They consistently represent Laker Athletics in a positive light. We continue to focus on our commitment to academics and emphasize a need to prepare our student-athletes to succeed in life after college."
