Laker Cross Country Competes at Lucian Rosa Invitational

KENOSHA, Wis. - The Lake Superior State University men's and women's cross country programs competed at the Lucian Rosa Invitational on Saturday, hosted by Wisconsin-Parkside. As a team, the men ended the day with a 12th place finish while the women placed 13th in the standings.

Men

The men's team Aaron Nachazel (East Jordan, Mich.) led the way for the men's team, completing the race with a time of 28:10.71. Ryan O'Neill (Perry, Mich.) and Ethan Nachazel (East Jordan, Mich.) would then cross the finish line within the following 11 seconds. Sophomores Skylar Wiliams (Battle Creek, Mich.) and Reese Camp (Highland, Mich.) ended their days about a minute later, placing within three seconds of each other. Riley Sponseller (Mt. Pleasant, Mich.) rounded out the lineup for the men's team, crossing the finish line with a final time of 31:33.42.

Women

Sophomore Gwen Phillips (Cadillac, Mich.) paced the women's team with a time of 27:41.28. Kara Mosher (Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.) and Kate Baker (Northville, Mich.) would then finish within two seconds of each other shortly after the 28-minute mark. Olivia Stevens (Grand Haven, Mich.), Sofia Salazar (Valle del Cauca, Colombia), and Katelyn Moore (Grayling, Mich.) rounded out the day for the women with three consecutive placements with Stevens leading the trio with a final time of 29:56.37.

The Lakers return to action on Friday, Nov. 4 when they travel to Wayne State for the GLIAC Cross Country Championships.
