Preview: Laker Volleyball Looking to Secure a Berth in the GLIAC Tournament This Weekend

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - The Lake Superior State University volleyball program (5-22, 4-12 GLIAC) is set to play two Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) matches this weekend with a berth in the GLIAC tournament on the line. They will host the Davenport Panthers (21-7, 12-4 GLIAC) on Friday, Nov. 4 before facing the Wayne State Warriors (17-10, 10-6 GLIAC) in the Bud Cooper Gymnasium.

The Lakers can clinch a berth in the GLIAC tournament with a victory or a Wisconsin-Parkside loss.

The Panthers' offensive attack is led by Hayley Kreiger who leads the conference in kills with 501. Defensively, Kenzy Corstange's 531 digs so far this season is also the top mark in the GLIAC. Davenport currently sits in third place in the GLIAC standings behind Northern Michigan who holds the head-to-head tiebreaker.

The Warriors are led on defense by Maddy Benoit, and her 5.23 digs per set are the top mark in the conference. Meanwhile, Kayla Giroux has proven to be one of the most efficient attackers that the GLIAC has to offer with her .336 hitting percentage being second only to Northern Michigan's Meghan Meyer.
