Laker Cross Country Competes at Midwest Regionals

KENOSHA, Wis. - The Lake Superior State University men's and women's cross country programs competed at the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Meet at the Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course, hosted by Wisconsin-Parkside on Saturday.

Men

The men's team came away with a 27th place finish overall in the 10k race, led by Ethan Nachazel (East Jordan, Mich.) who paced his team with a time of 35:10.35. Ryan O'Neill (Perry, Mich.) finished not long after with a time of 35:34.95, and Aaron Nachazel (East Jordan, Mich.) crossed the finish line 20 seconds later. A few minutes later, Skylar Williams finished with a final time of 39:19.29. Roy Bowman (Jerome, Mich.) and Riley Sponseller (Mt. Pleasant, Mich.) rounded out the lineup with respective times of 40:02.31 and 40:11.10. 

Women

The women's team completed the 6k race with a 31st place finish as a team. Sydney Kapushinski (Imlay City, Mich.) led the team with a final time of 27:07.62. Gwen Phillips (Cadillac, Mich.) and Kara Mosher (Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.) were not far behind and placed six seconds apart from each other with respective times of 27:24.42 and 27:30.89. Olivia Stevens (Grand Haven, Mich.) would cross the finish line just over a minute later with a time of 28:38.37, and Katelyn Moore (Grayling, Mich.) rounded out the day with a final time of 29:55.85.
