DEEPHAVEN, Minn. – The Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) has announced its 104-game conference schedule on Thursday. Eight teams will be playing a 26-game conference schedule with the exception of Augustana who will play 16 CCHA contests as they compete in the first year of their program. 

CCHA conference action begins on Oct. 14 when newcomer Augustana welcomes the Bowling Green Falcons to Sioux Falls, S.D. However, all contests against Augustana will not count toward the conference standings due to their transitional schedule over the course of two seasons. 

The Lake Superior State (LSSU) Lakers will open up league play on Nov. 3 when they welcome the Bemidji State Beavers to Taffy Abel Arena. The last time LSSU hosted Bemidji State ended with a Harrison Roy (Lakeville, Mass.) game-winner in the closing seconds of regulation.

The first time that the maximum number of teams face a CCHA opponent on the same night (eight) will take place on Nov. 10. This will mark the first league action of the season for the two-time defending league champion Minnesota State Mavericks as they travel to take on a Ferris State team that came away with an early season sweep of the Mavericks a year ago in Mankato. This will also kickstart the 2023-24 battle for the Cappo Cup with a pair of games between LSSU and Northern Michigan in Marquette.

The CCHA regular season will come to a close on March 2 with the team earning the most points being awarded with the prestigious MacNaughton Cup.

The top four teams following regular-season action will host the opening round of the CCHA playoffs on March 8-10 with the winners of a best-of-three series advancing to the semifinals. Both the semifinals (March 16) and finals (TBD) will be played as a single game at the respective campus sites of the highest –seeded team. The famed Mason Cup will be presented to the CCHA playoff champions, who will receive an automatic qualification to the 16-team NCAA Tournament.

The NCAA Tournament opens play at the four regional sites of Maryland Heights, Mo., Providence, R.I., Sioux Falls, S.D., and Springfield, Mass.

The 2024 Frozen Four is set to take place at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minn. on April 11 and 13.
