DEEPHAVEN, Minn, - Jacob Bengtsson (Stockholm, Sweden) has been named the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) Defenseman of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday.

Bengtsson played a crucial role in helping the Lakers to a series split against the Bemidji State Beavers, assisting on three goals over the weekend, including the game-winner from Harrison Roy (Lakeville, Mass.) with 13 seconds remaining in regulation on Jan. 28. He also helped to take pressure off of his goaltenders by blocking a total of five shots in the series.

This marks Bengtsson's first CCHA Defenseman of the Week honors of the season and the second of his career.

Bengtsson and the Lakers return to action on Friday, Feb. 3 when they travel to resume the Cappo Cup against the Northern Michigan Wildcats in Marquette, Mich. with puck drop scheduled for 7:07 p.m.
