Boudon and Bengtsson Named 2023 Hobey Baker Award Nominees

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich, - Lake Superior State senior captain Louis Boudon (Grenoble, France) and junior defenseman Jacob Bengtsson (Stockholm, Sweden) have been nominated for this year's Hobey Baker Award, marking the second time in their Laker careers that both skaters have been named Hobey Baker Award nominees.

The duo are two of 82 college hockey players representing 43 different schools that appear on this year's ballot.

Boudon is currently tied for the team lead in goals (7) and points (16), and he recorded his 100th career point with his first assist in a Dec. 9 come-from-behind victory over Bemidji State in which he assisted on all three Laker goals. He was also named the Central Collegiate Hockey Association Forward of the Week on Oct. 31 after a four-point weekend against Clarkson (3G, 1A), including assisting on the game-tying goal to force overtime with 1.7 seconds remaining in regulation.

Bengtsson leads the Lakers in assists with 15 and is tied with Boudon for the team lead in points with 16. He scored the game-tying goal in the Lakers' come-from-behind victory over Bemidji State on Dec. 9 while shorthanded with 24 seconds remaining in regulation, and he was able to put together one of his most productive series of the season against Bowling Green, assisting on all five Laker goals on the weekend.

Fan voting will commence from now until Sunday, March 5 at midnight. College hockey fans can cast their votes online by going to the voting website: https://www.hobeybaker.com/vote

Phase two of voting will consist of the top ten Hobey Baker finalists, beginning on March 17 and concluding on March 26. The fans' vote accounts for a percentage of the total ballot in each phase in selecting this year's award recipient.

Votes are limited to once per day, and fans must create an account in order to vote.
