DEEPHAVEN, Minn, - Senior defenseman Jared Kucharek (Royal Oak, Mich.) has been named the Central Collegiate Hockey Association defenseman of the week, as announced by the league office on Monday. 

Kucharek set the tone early in the Lakers' 4-1 victory over Ferris State on Saturday, Jan. 14, scoring his second goal of the season at the 5:53 mark of the opening period to get his team on the board first. He would go on to finish with a +2 +/- rating and was named the second star of the game. Over the weekend he also made several contributions in his defensive zone by breaking up multiple plays and totalling three blocked shots on the weekend.

Kucharek and the Lakers return to action on Friday, Jan. 20 when they travel to take on the Minnesota State Mavericks.
