Men's Golf Closes 2022 Season at GLIAC Championships

AUGUSTA, Mich. - The Lake Superior State men's golf team closed the 2022 season on Friday, April 15 and Saturday, April 16 at the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championships at the Stoatin Brae Golf Course in Augusta, Mich. 

The men's team combined for a two-day total of 621 to finish 10th among the GLIAC participating schools at the conference championships. On the first day of competition, the Lakers recorded a score of 309 and followed with a 312 combined score on day two of the tournament. 

Freshman Marko Banic led the Lakers at the GLIAC Championships as he posted a two-day combined score of 154. Banic shot a 74 on Friday and followed with a score of 80 on Saturday to finish tied for 33 among his conference peers. Junior Callum McKay followed with a combined score of 155. McKay was tied with Banic following the first day of competition with a 74 and shot an 81 on the closing day of the tournament. 

Gabe Rathburn finished third among his teammates and tied for 40th overall with a two-day total of 156. The freshman recorded a score of 81 on Friday and closed the weekend with a score of 75 on Saturday. Senior Zander Park closed out his collegiate career with a two-day combined score of 161 (85-76) to finish 45th overall and fourth among the Lakers. Alex Bratton rounded out the Lakers team with a combined score of 162 (80-82) as he completed his first full collegiate season.
