Laker Track and Field Completes Final Day of GLIAC Championships

ALLENDALE, Mich. - The Lake Superior State (LSSU) track and field program completed their final day of events at the 2024 GLIAC Outdoor Championships on Friday.

The women's 4x100-meter relay unit of Haley Howe (Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.), Brooke Brazeau (Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.), Sofia Salazar (Valle del Cauca, Columbia), and Lindsey Tonello (Cadillac, Mich.) crossed the finish line with a time of 51.64 while the team of Tonello, Kara Mosher (Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.), Howe, and Salazar finished the 4x400-meter relay in 4:14.32.

Keira Lamming (Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.) also completed the high jump on the day for the women's team, clearing a height of 1.5 meters.

Ethan Nachazel (East Jordan, Mich.) finished 13th overall in the 10,000-meter run, completing the event in 34:06.80.

Meanwhile, Ryan Reiniche (Hillsdale, Mich.) threw for a pair of top-ten finishes in both the shot put and discus with respective tosses of 14.88m and 41.57m.

Meanwhile, Avery Timm (Petoskey, Mich.) also came away with a top ten finish after clearing a distance of 12.07m in the triple jump.

Both of the men's relay units were able to put points on the board for the Lakers with the 4x100 team of Riley Traver (Hartford, Mich.), Timm, Noah Murray (Macomb, Mich.) and Michael Sherman (Boyne City, Mich.) placing 6th with a time of 44.97, and the unit of Sherman, Ryan O'Neill (Perry, Mich.), Ethan Meehle (Midland, Mich.), and Roy Bowman (Jerome, Mich.) finished 8th in the 4x400 with a time of 3:37.21, a season best time for LSSU in the event.
