Women's Tennis Heads to GLIAC Tournament

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – The Lake Superior State women's tennis team will travel to Midland, Michigan on Friday to compete in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament on Friday, Oct. 26.

The Lakers, as the No. 6 seed, face Michigan Tech (No. 3) in the first round of play. Matches start at 6:45 p.m. on Friday.

Play continues Saturday at 3:45 p.m. and the final round takes place Sunday at 8:15 a.m. The tournament champion will receive an automatic bid to the 2019 NCAA Women's Tennis Tournament.

Lake State finished the regular season with a 4-5 record and most recently dropped their last contest to Michigan Tech by a 7-0 score. Prior to that match, the Lakers were on a three-match winning streak after defeating Ferris State (5-2), Purdue Northwest (6-1) and Davenport (7-1).

Michigan Tech has an overall record of 8-2 and is 7-2 against GLIAC opponents this season. They're currently on a three-game winning streak including the win against the Lakers last weekend, with the other two wins picked up against Purdue Northwest (6-1) and Davenport (6-1).
