Women’s Basketball to Face Ferris State on Saturday

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – Lake Superior State women's basketball heads downstate this weekend to face Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponent Ferris State on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Lake Superior State (6-11, 1-9 GLIAC) has Thursday evening off prior to hitting the road to face Ferris State (9-7, 6-4 GLIAC) in Big Rapids, Michigan.

Last Time on the Court

The Lakers defeated the Purdue Northwest Pride on Saturday by a 63-59 final. Junior forward Lexie Khon led the Lakers in points with 20 and rebounds with nine. Redshirt sophomore forward Abigail Ostman recorded seven rebounds, while junior guard Claire Radtke and redshirt freshman guard Sadie DeWildt scored 13 and 14 points, respectively. Radtke led the team in assists with six.

By the Numbers

Lake State is averaging 59.6 points per game, while the opposition is scoring 71.2 points per game. LSSU has a 37.0 shooting percentage from the field, including 31.5 percent from three-point range, while opponents are shooting 44.7 percent overall and 35.5 percent from behind the three-point arc. The Lakers are averaging 12.2 made three-pointers, 11.6 assists and 6.3 steals per game.

Junior forward Lexie Khon leads the team in points with 13.6 points per game on 45.1 percent shooting. She is also the team leader in rebounds with 5.4 per game.

Scouting the Bulldogs

Ferris State went 2-0 in a pair of road games last week — defeating Purdue Northwest 94-78 on Jan. 17 and Wisconsin Parkside 74-60 on Saturday.

The Bulldogs, who are averaging 70.7 points per game offensively, are led in scoring average by Alexis Bush (12.6 points per game).

Last season, the Lakers went 0-2 against the Bulldogs.

Looking Ahead

The Lakers return to action with a road game at Northwood in Midland, Michigan on Jan. 31 at 6 p.m.

Lake Superior State returns home to face Wayne State on Thursday, Feb. 7 and Ashland on Saturday, Feb. 9.
