Women's Basketball Drops Home Contest Against Parkside

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – Lake Superior State women's basketball fell to Parkside by a 76-63 final in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchup on Thursday evening in Bud Cooper Gymnasium. 

Lake Superior State (5-11, 0-9 GLIAC) fell behind 17-11 in the first quarter. Parkside (6-9, 4-5 GLIAC) extended its lead going into the half after outscoring the Lakers 16-13 in the second quarter. The score at halftime was 33-24 in favor of the Rangers. Parkside added 21 points in the third quarter compared to the Lakers' 10, bringing the score to 54-34. The Lakers outscored the Rangers in the final frame, 29-22, but it wasn't enough to complete the comeback. The Rangers held on for a 76-63 final.

Redshirt freshman guard Sadie DeWildt led Lake State in scoring with 22 points. Junior guard Claire Radtke notched five assists to lead the team, and junior forward Lexie Khon led in rebounds with seven.

Lake Superior State and Parkside were both 16-of-22 from the free throw line.

The Lakers made 33.9 percent of their shots from the field, including 38.9 percent on three-pointers while the Rangers shot 50.9 percent overall and 42.9 from behind the three-point arc.

The Lakers continue play at home against Purdue Northwest on Saturday at 1 p.m. in Bud Cooper Gymnasium.
