Lakers Look for Fourth Consecutive Win as they Face Greyhounds

The Lakers are off to a 3-1 start

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. — Lake Superior State women's basketball looks to build upon its three-game winning streak with a nonconference game at the University of Indianapolis in Nicoson Hall at 1 p.m. on Wednesday.

Last Time on the Court

Lake Superior State improved to 3-1 with road wins at Ohio Valley (78-48) and Alderson Broaddus (77-64) on Thursday and Saturday, respectively. The Laker defense was dominant — holding Ohio Valley to 24.6 percent shooting and forcing 14 turnovers against Alderson Broaddus. Offensively, the Lakers shots 49.1 percent against Ohio Valley and 51 percent against Alderson Broaddus.

Best Start Since 2014-15

With their road wins over Ohio Valley and Alderson Broaddus, the Lakers have won three consecutive games and are off to their best start through four games since 2014-15 when they also started the season 3-1. The 2014-15 season is also the last time the Lakers had a three-game winning streak.

GLIAC North Division Player of the Week

Junior guard Claire Radtke was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Conference Women's Basketball North Division Player of the Week for her role in the Lakers' wins over Ohio Valley and Alderson Broaddus. Radtke averaged 15.5 points per game on 60 percent shooting, including 70 percent on three-point shots, while averaging four rebounds and one steal on the week.

Lake Superior State is averaging 68.8 points per game, while holding the opposition to 65.8 points per game. LSSU is shooting 41.9 percent from the field, including 38.9 percent from three-point range, while limiting opponents to 38 percent shooting overall and 27.9 percent from behind the three-point arc. The Lakers are averaging seven made three-pointers and 7.8 steals per game. Radtke and junior forward Lexie Khon are pacing the Lakers with 11.8 and 11.5 points per game, respectively.

Scouting University of Indianapolis

The Greyhounds enter the game with the Lakers with a 2-2 record, including an 80-71 double-overtime home loss to No. 13 Grand Valley State on Sunday. Taylor Drury led the Greyhound offense with 21 points in the game. 

UIndy is scoring 66.5 points per game while allowing 66 points per game. The Greyhounds are shooting 44.2 percent on the season, including 37.7 percent on three-point shots, while their opponents are shooting 38.4 percent overall and 27.5 percent from behind the arc. 

Three Greyhounds are averaging double figures in points: Taylor Drury (18.0), Emma Benoit (14.8) and Laura Thomas (12.5). 

First Home Game

The Lakers will play their first regular-season home game against Saginaw Valley State University on Dec. 6 at 5:30 p.m.
