Men's Basketball Falls to Northwood in Double Overtime

MIDLAND, Mich. – Lake Superior State men's basketball fell to Northwood University in double overtime on the road by a 90-85 final on Thursday night.

Lake Superior State (10-8, 6-6 GLIAC) led 41-28 going into halftime. Northwood (9-11, 6-6 GLIAC) got within two points at the midway point of the second half and took the lead with 1:58 remaining. They outscored the Lakers 41-28 in the frame and ended the second half tied at 69-69. A back-and-forth overtime ended 72-72, and the Timberwolves ended up on top at the end of the second overtime, 90-85.

Junior guard Malek Adams led in points with 25 and senior guard Tim Cairnduff had 19. Sophomore forward Rog Stein had the team-high in rebounds with 8. Stein and Adams led in assists with five each.

The Lakers were 11-of-15 from the free throw line, and the Timberwolves were 19-of-26.

Lake State made 47.1 percent of their shots from the field and 38.5 percent of their three-pointers. Northwood shot 46.4 percent overall and shot 50.0 percent on three-point shots.

Lake State continues on the road to face Saginaw Valley State at 3 p.m. on Saturday in Saginaw, Michigan.

The Lakers' next home action is on Thursday, Feb. 7 at 7:30 p.m. when they host Wayne State in a conference matchup in Bud Cooper Gymnasium.
