Men's Basketball Drops Road Game at Davenport

Rog Stein led the Lakers in scoring with 14 points against Davenport

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Lake Superior State men's basketball dropped a road game to Davenport University 82-60 on Thursday night at Davenport Student Center.

Sophomore forward Rog Stein led the Lakers offensively with 10 of his team-leading 14 points coming in the first half, but Lake Superior State (6-5, 2-3 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) trailed Davenport (10-2, 3-2 GLIAC) 36-31 at halftime. In the second half, the Lakers pulled within three points early on with the score 39-36 with under 17 minutes remaining in regulation, but Davenport would pull away for the 82-60 win as Lake State shot 29.2 percent from the field in the second half compared to 48.4 percent shooting by Davenport.

Junior guard Malek Adams also scored in double figures for the Lakers as he tallied 12 points.

Junior forward Ke'Montrece Collins grabbed a team-high eight rebounds and Stein snared seven.

Lake Superior State committed 26 turnovers, while Davenport turned the ball over 11 times.

The Lakers made 21-of-29 from the free throw line and the Panthers made 20-of-30 attempts.

Neither team shot well from three-point range as Lake Superior State was 3-of-17 and Davenport was 6-of-23.

Lake State returns home to face Grand Valley State at 3 p.m. on Saturday inside Bud Cooper Gymnasium.
