Cross Country Set for NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Cross Country Championships

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - The Lake Superior State men's and women's cross country teams will compete in the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Cross Country Championships on Saturday, November 9 in Evansville, Ind. The Lakers will look to build on their success at the GLIAC Cross Country Championships on October 26, where many members of the teams set new personal or season record. The women's 6,000-meter race will being at 10:30 am and the men's 10,000-meter race will be at 11:45 am.

Women's Team

In the previous race, the GLIAC Championships, the Lakers women's team had four runners set collegiate personal records and one set a new season personal record. The women's finishes and times were: Rebecca Lathrop-78th overall (24:41.4), Alexis Passino-87th overall (25:11.9), Leah Bell-91st overall (25:32.2), Emily Merten-95th overall (25:45.3), Caitlyn Schumann-109th overall (27:05.4), and Melody Perrin-112th overall (28:15.3).

Men's Team

In the GLIAC Championships, the Lakers men's team had five athletes set collegiate personal records and one set a new season personal record. The men's finishes and times were: David Mitter-10th overall (24:37.9), Peter Shambaugh- 85th overall (26:52.0), Kendal Delpiere-89th overall (27:10.0), Daniel Anderson-110th overall (29:54.4), Kevin Garland-112th overall (30:44.3), and Eric Somsky-113th overall (34:10.4).

The Lakers will be led by junior David Mitter who will look to qualify for the NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships for the second year in a row.
