Volleyball Falls in Three Sets to Ferris State

BIG RAPIDS, Mich. - The Lake Superior State volleyball team lost a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) match in three sets to the No. 20 Ferris State Bulldogs on Saturday, Nov. 3 in Big Rapids, Mich. 

First Set: Bulldogs won 25-14

Second Set: Bulldogs won 25-10

Third Set: Bulldogs won 25-19

The Lakers played hard against one of the best teams not only in their own conference but in the nation as Ferris State is ranked twentieth nationally. Sophomores Bethany Wilson and Camdyn Odykirk each recorded a team-leading five kills in the match. Sophomore Halle Grulke continued to set up her teammates to score as she registered 17 assists against the Bulldogs. Senior outside hitter Amanda Reid added a team-high four service aces in the game while she also defensively contributed eight kills for the Lakers. 

Abby Beachnau, the team's libero, would lead the defensive effort against the strong Bulldogs offense as she added 17 digs to her season total. Defensive specialists Kyra Vezina, 12 kills, and Sydney Briney, eight kills, also were solid for the Lakers.

Up Next

Following this weekend's matches, the Lakers will travel once again to Saginaw, Mich. to face the Saginaw Valley State Cardinals. The game is slated for a 2:00 p.m. start and will take place on Saturday, Nov. 9.
