Lakers Capture Five-Set Win Against Wisconsin-Parkside

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. -- The Lake Superior State volleyball team picked up a win against Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponent Wisconsin-Parkside on Saturday afternoon.

Today's win brings the Lakers record to 3-14 overall and 2-7 against conference opponents. Wisconsin-Parkside is now 4-13, 2-7.

Lake State picked up wins in the first two sets (25-22, 25-22) but Parkside evened it up in the next two sets (25-16, 25-14). The final set ended 15-11 in the Lakers' favor, capturing the second win on the weekend.

Junior Amanda Reid tallied 16 kills to lead the LSSU offense, and freshman Camdyn Odykirk had seven.

Senior Lauren Lukasik and freshman Halle Grulke each posted 13 assists, tied for the team high.

On defense, seniors Paige Gotham and Mikala Williams led the way for the Lakers, with 18 and 16 digs respectively.

Wisconsin-Parkside was led on offense by Lexie Calloway, who notched 20 kills. Ann Leo recorded 34 digs, securing the team-high for the Rangers.

Lake State finished the night with a .044 hitting percentage, while Parkside's was .165.

The Lakers continue home action in the Bud Cooper Gymnasium with a pair of games next weekend, Oct. 5-6. They host Davenport on Friday (6:30 p.m.) and Grand Valley on Saturday (2 p.m.).
