SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – The Lake Superior State volleyball team took on Purdue Northwest in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchup on Friday evening, ultimately winning in five sets.
With the win, the Lakers overall record is now 2-14, with a 1-7 record against conference opponents. Purdue Northwest falls to 1-15, 0-8.
Lake State dropped the first set 25-18, then came back to win set two 25-17. Purdue Northwest took the third set 27-25, and the Lakers captured the win after notching victories in sets four and five (25-15, 15-9).
Junior Amanda Reid had 21 kills to lead the Lakers offense. Senior Morgan Kelley was next up with eight. Reid also notched a .304 hitting percentage.
Senior setter Lauren Lukasik tallied 22 assists on the night, while freshman Halle Grulke had 11.
Leading the Lakers defense was senior libero Paige Gotham, picking up a team-high 22 digs. Mikala Williams finished with 17.
For the Pride, Jenna Pasko led the way offensively with 13 kills. Jenna Dal Santo had the team-high in digs with 14.
The Lakers had a .161 hitting percentage, and Purdue Northwest's was .111.
Lake State continues at home tomorrow as they host GLIAC opponent Wisconsin-Parkside at 2 p.m.
