Taylor Simoneau Named Second Team All-GLIAC

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - Taylor Simoneau has been named to the 2019-20 All-GLIAC Second Team, as announced by conference officials on Wednesday, April 15. 

Simoneau, a junior from St. Catherines, Ontario, earned All-GLIAC honors for the first time in her career after a strong fall season for the women's golf team. Simoneau competed in every tournament for the Lakers in the fall and had the lowest two day total among her teammates during the season. The kinesiology major finished the fall season with nine rounds and an average score of 77.3 (696 strokes). 

Simoneau's best tournament was the LTU Blue Devil Classic where the Lakers claimed a first place finish. Simoneau led the Lakers as she placed fourth among all competitors with a two day total of 148 (76,72). 

Simoneau opened the season at the SVSU Fall Invitational with a combined total of 155 (79,76) which was tied for 13th among all participants. The Lakers finished in second place at the SVSU Fall Invitational. At the Bulldog Fall Invitational, Simoneau shot a 76 on day one which was the best among the Lakers and fifth overall. Due to inclement weather, the second day of the Bulldog Fall Invitational was cancelled.

In the final two invitationals of the fall, the Lakers recorded back-to-back third place finishes. At the Mike Lalaoff Memorial Invitational, Simoneau finished fourth overall with a combined total of 164 (87,77). Simoneau was tied for 4th overall at the Panther Invitational with a two day total of 153 (77,76).
