Women's Golf Looks to Continue Success in Weekend Invitational

Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.- The Lake Superior State women's golf team will be in action this weekend on Saturday, Oct. 12 and Sunday, Oct. 13 competing in the Mike Lalaeff Memorial Invitational hosted by Purdue-Northwest at White Hawk Country Club in Crown Point, Ind. 

The Lakers have had great success this year including a second place finish at the SVSU invitational on Sept. 15, winning the Blue Devil Classic on Sept. 24 and most recently, placing third in the Bulldog Invite on Sept. 29. 

The Lakers were only able to participate in one day of competition as wet and windy conditions ended up cancelling the final day of play. The Lakers scored 322, just nine strokes behind host Ferris State. The Lakers were led by Taylor Simoneau, who shot a 76 on Saturday and ranked fifth overall among all competitors. Junior Madison Wilkie also had a strong day on the course as she tied for eighth place overall with a score of 79. Sophomore Alyshia Suleman tied for 16th overall with an 82, junior Naomi Keyte tied for 25th overall with an 85 and senior Madison Whittet tied for 31st overall with an 86. The Lakers hope to continue to shoot low scores in Crown Point, Ind.

Up Next 

The Lakers will travel to Augusta, Mich to play in the Panther Invite hosted by Davenport University at Stonehedge Golf Course in Augusta, Mich. on Saturday Oct. 19 and Sunday Oct. 20. Both days of competition will start at 11:00am and begin with a shotgun start.
