Lakers Participate in Bulldog Fall Invitational

BIG RAPIDS, Mich. - The Lake Superior State women's golf team participated in the Bulldog Fall Invitational hosted by Ferris State University at Katke Golf Course in Big Rapids, Mich. on Saturday, Sept. 28. Due to inclement weather, the second day of the tournament was cancelled. The Lakers finished in third place following the first day of play.

The Lakers ended the first day on the course with a team score of 322, which was good for third place among the eight participants. Sagniaw Valley ended the day in first place (311) and Ferris State held the second spot with a score of 313. 

Leading the way for the Lakers was junior Taylor Simoneau, who shot a 76 on Saturday and ranked fifth overall among all competitors. Junior Madison Wilkie also had a strong day on the course as she tied for eighth place overall with a score of 79. Sophomore Alyshia Suleman tied for 16th overall with an 82, junior Naomi Keyte tied for 25th overall with an 85 and senior Madison Whittet tied for 31st overall with an 86. 

The Lake State women's golfers will have a week hiatus before returning to competition. LSSU will travel to Crown Point, Ind. to take part in the Mike Lalaeff Memorial Invitational hosted by Purdue University Northwest at White Hawk Country Club on Saturday, Oct. 12 and Sunday, Oct. 13.
