SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – Lake Superior State women's basketball student-athlete Lexie Khon has been named the Madigan/Pingatore Insurance Athlete of the Week, as announced by the Lake Superior State athletic department on Thursday, Feb. 20. 

Khon, a senior forward and kinesiology major from Jackson, Mich., became the 22nd Laker in women's basketball history to record 1,000 career points as she hit the milestone on Saturday, Feb. 15 in the Lakers 75-61 loss to Michigan Tech. Khon posted 22 points in the Lakers 59-54 win over the Northern Michigan Wildcats on Thursday night at home while also adding a team-leading eight rebounds in the game. Khon would score 14 points in Saturday's effort to finish the weekend with 1,011 points in her Laker career. 

It is the second time this season that Khon has been named the Madigan/Pingatore Insurance Athlete of the Week.

The Lakers are scheduled for a pair of road games this weekend, taking on GLIAC opponents Wisconsin Parkside on Thursday, Feb. 20 at 6:30 p.m. and Purdue Northwest on Saturday, Feb. 22 at 3:00 p.m.
