Women's Basketball Returns Home for a Pair of Conference Matchups

Claire Radtke scored nine points for the Lakers

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich.- The Lake Superior State University women's basketball team is back in action in the Ronald "Bud" Cooper Gymnasium as they face Purdue Northwest at 5:30pm on Thursday, Jan. 23 and the Wisconsin-Parkside Rangers on Jan. 25 at 1:00pm. 

The Lakers

The Lakers will be looking to end a five game losing streak this weekend. The Lakers (6-10, 2-7 GLIAC) are currently in sixth place in the GLIAC North Division. The Lakers are currently averaging 53.4 points a game as well as 35.6 rebounds. The Lakers leading shooter has been senior forward Lexi Khon who is shooting a red-hot 52.6 percent from the field. The Lakers leading rebounder is Claire Radtke who averages 4.4 rebounds a game. 

Purdue Northwest Pride - (4-13, 3-6 GLIAC)

The Pride are currently in fifth place in the GLIAC North division. The Pride are currently on a four game losing streak. The Pride are shooting 37% on the season and average 30 rebounds a game. PNW is coached by the rookie, Courtney Locke. 

Wisconsin Parkside Rangers- (10-7, 7-2 GLIAC)

The Rangers are currently in the driver's seat for the GLIAC North division. The Rangers are an impressive 6-2 at home on the year. The Rangers leading scorer is sophomore guard Alyssa Nelson who has 263 points on the year. Parkside is coached by Jen Conley who is in her second season at the helm.

The Lakers will continue GLIAC play as they face Wayne State Thursday, Jan. 30 at 5:30pm in Detroit. The Lakers will then travel to Ashland, Ohio to face the Eagles at 1:00pm on Feb. 1.
