Men's Basketball Back at Home for Two Conference Games

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich.- The Lake Superior State Men's basketball team will return home on Thursday, Jan 23 at 7:30pm when they face the Pride of Purdue Northwest and on Saturday, Jan. 25 against the Wisconsin-Parkside Rangers at 3:00pm. Both Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) games will be played in the Ronald "Bud" Cooper Gymnasium. 

The Lakers

These matchups will be the Lakers first home games since Jan. 2. The Lakers are currently 6-11 overall, 3-6 in GLIAC play and ranked fifth in the GLIAC North Division. The Lakers will be looking to end a five game losing streak with this weekend's matchups. 

The Lakers are currently led in scoring by senior guard Ke'Montrece Collins who is averaging 14.7 points a game. Collins also leads the Lakers in rebounds as he averages 7.4 a matchup. Sophomore guard C.J. Robinson leads his team in time on the court this season with 33.5 minutes a game. Sophomore Jusin Fischer leads his squad with 4.2 assists a game. 

Purdue Northwest Pride- (7-10, 2-7 GLIAC)

Coached by the second year head coach Boomer Roberts, the Pride have totaled 76 point per game average as well as 38 rebounds a game. The Pride are led by junior forward Jyrus Freels who is averaging 12.5 points a game. The pride are shooting 43% from the field and average 16.9 assists per game. 

Wisconsin Parkside Rangers- (10-7, 6-3 GLIAC)

The Rangers are currently in third place in the GLIAC North Division. Leading the way offensively is redshirt sophomore guard Hunter Trimble who has 241 points on the season. The Rangers have proven to be tough on defence, only allowing 65 points a game. The Rangers are coached by the 17 veteran Luke Riegel.

The Lakers will continue GLIAC play as they face Wayne State Thursday, Jan. 30 at 7:30pm in Detroit. The Lakers will then travel to Ashland, Ohio to face the Eagles at 3:00pm on Feb. 1.
