Track & Field Set to Partake in the 2020 GLIAC Indoor Championships

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - The Lake Superior State men's and women's track and field teams are set to compete at the 2020 GLIAC Indoor Track and Field Championship meet on Saturday, February 29 and Sunday, Mach 1 hosted by Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Mich. 

On Saturday, the running events will begin at 2:50pm with the field events starting at 3:00pm. 

First up to compete for the Lakers will be Sara Ostwald in the women's weight throw with Ashley Mullings and Elizabeth Setsuda in the women's long jump. At 3:45 p.m., Andrew Giddens will compete in the men's 60 meter hurdles prelim. The next event for the Lakers will be the men's 400-meter dash featuring Tom Hanke at 4:15 p.m.

Directly following the 400 meter dash will be the women's and men's 60 meter dash. The women's 60 meter dash will be run by Elizabeth Setsuda at 4:30 p.m., and Dwayne Thompson will run the men's 60 meter dash at 4:45 p.m. The women's 200 meter dash at 5:50 p.m. will include Elizabeth Setsuda, and the men's 200 meter dash at 6:05 p.m. will include Riley Traver. The distance medley relay will be the last event of the day with representation from both the women's and men's sides of the team at 6:20 p.m. and 6:35 p.m. respectively.

On Sunday, the first Laker to compete will be Riley Collins in the women's high jump at 10:30 a.m. The next event for the Lakers will be the men's shot put and the women's triple jump at 12:45 p.m. Ryan Reiniche will compete in the shot put while Sarah Votruba will compete in the women's triple jump.

The running events will begin at 1:30 p.m. for the Lakers with the women's 800 meter run including Rebecca Lathrop. The men's 3000 meter run will be at 2:25 p.m. and will feature David Mitter. The last event of the day will be the women's and men's 1600 meter relay, which both the women's and men's sides of the team will compete in at 2:50 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. respectively.

Following this weekend's competition, the Lakers will begin to prepare for the outdoor season, which is set to begin on March 20 at the Blizzard Buster in Oxford, Ohio.
