Track & Field Gears Up for the 2020 Tune-Up Meet at GVSU

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - The Lake Superior State men's and women's track and field teams are set to compete at the 2020 "Tune Up" meet on Friday, Feb. 21 hosted by Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Mich.

The field events will start at 2:45pm with the men's high jump with the other field events following at 3:00pm, and the track events will begin at 3:00 pm with the men's 60-meter hurdles.

Moriah Reed and Sara Ostwald will compete in the women's weight throw, and Tim Howes will represent the men's team in the men's weight throw. In the shot put, the men will compete first with performances from Ryan Reiniche and Kye Heimonen. The women's shot put will include Brittney Ryan. In the long jump, both the men's team and women's team will have a strong showing from Riley Nichols, Breanyl Baker, and Ashley Mullings respectively. In the pole vault, the women's team will be represented by Sarah Votruba and Arianna Lazzaro.

In the track events, Andrew Giddens will be the first to run competing in the men's 60-meter hurdles. The following event, the 60-meter dash will include Elizabeth Setsuda. The women's one mile race will feature Alexis Passino, Melody Perrin, and Caitlyn Schumann. The next event, the 400-meter dash will have representation from both the men's side and women's side. Alyssa Mulford and Jessica Nicholas will race first followed by Eric Somsky, Tom Hanke, and Kevin Garland. The 800-meter run will include Rebecca Lathrop and Emily Merten. The event directly after will be the women's 200-meter dash with performances from Ellie Bell, Elizabeth Setsuda, and Nadya Woodson. The men's 200-meter dash will feature Dwayne Thompson and Riley Traver. The final event for the Lakers will be the 3,000 meter run. On the women's side, Leah Bell will compete, and the men's race will include Kendal Delpiere.

The Lakers will return to competition on Saturday, February 29 and Sunday, March 1 for the Indoor GLIAC Championship meet at Grand Valley State University.
