Taylor Brown is entering his third year as the Lake Superior State's Strength and Conditioning Coach in 2021-22. 

Prior to joining LSSU, Brown worked as a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Brown’s job responsibilities included leading all workout sessions for the women’s tennis, men’s rowing and women’s rowing teams as well as assisting in workout sessions for other teams including volleyball, soccer, wrestling, and swimming and diving. 

Brown served as a student assistant strength and conditioning coach during his undergraduate years at Bethel University. For three years, Brown led all workout sessions for women’s hockey as well as men’s and women’s tennis. Brown’s experience at Bethel also included serving in an advisory role during workouts for football, volleyball, track and field, soccer, baseball, and softball. Brown was a four year member of Bethel’s men’s ice hockey team and served as assistant captain from 2016-18. 

Brown also spent time as an intern at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the University of Minnesota where he worked with the men’s and women’s hockey programs as well as the men’s and women’s basketball teams. In addition to working with student-athletes, Brown was also responsible for assisting in summer workouts for men’s and women’s professional hockey players who spent summers on the campus. 

Brown is a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS), while also holding a United States Weightlifting Level 1 Certification (USAW-L1), Functional Movement Screen Level 1 Certification (FMS-L1), Crossfit Level 1 Certification (CF-L1) and CPR/First Aid Certified. Additionally, Brown has completed the Functional Movement Screen Indian Clubs Course (FMSICC-L1), and the Christian Thibaudeau Hypertrophy Course. 

Brown completed his bachelor’s degree in biokinetics with an emphasis in exercise science from Bethel University in 2018 and his master’s degree in kinesiology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

A native of Madison, Wisconsin, Brown currently resides in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.
