Cross Country to Open Season at Wisconsin-Parkside Invitational

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich.-- The Lake Superior State University men's and women's cross country teams will start their 2018 seasons this Saturday, September 8 as they participate in Wisconsin-Parkside's 38th annual Vic Godfrey Open.

The 2018 Vic Godfrey Open takes place at the Dannehl XC Course in Somers, WI. Several D1 programs will compete, including DePaul, Kansas State, IUPUI, Loyola, Marquette, UW-Green Bay and UW-Milwaukee, as well as a variety of NCAA D2, D3, and NAIA programs.

The men's 8,000-meter race will start at 10:30 a.m. and the women's 5,000-meter race begins at 11:15 a.m.

This year's men's squad includes returning seniors Jack Miles, Dylan Richards, Garrett Smith, Zachary Workman and Parker Wyngard. The roster also features sophomore David Mitter, from Howell, Mich., who was named to the All-GLIAC Second Team last season.

For the women's team, familiar faces include Lydia Heimonen and Rachel Leggett. Juniors Melody Perrin and Rebecca Lathrop also return.
