PREVIEW: Laker Volleyball Set for Split Weekend Against the Cardinals and the Pride

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - The Lake Superior State (LSSU) volleyball program (6-17, 3-9 GLIAC) is set to face the Saginaw Valley State (SVSU) Cardinals (3-19, 0-11 GLIAC) on the road on Friday, Oct. 27 before returning home to take on the  Purdue Northwest Pride (9-13, 4-7 GLIAC) the following day inside Bud Cooper Gymnasium.

The Cardinals are currently on a 2-game losing streak and have yet to win a match in conference play, but the closest they have come to a GLIAC victory took place in the Soo when they at one point led the Lakers two sets to one before LSSU ultimately won the match in five. They are led offensively by Madison Thompson with a total of 201 kills, and an average of 2.96 kills per set, and Kelsey Vittitow leads the team defensively with a total of 323 digs and an average of 4.25 digs per set.

The Pride will be looking to snap an 8-game losing streak this weekend with a road trip that will take them to Detroit for a battle with Wayne State prior to their matchup with the Lakers on Saturday. Offensively, Arra Cottrell leads Pride with a total of 222 kills, and an average of 2.55 kills per set. Defensively, Livia Thomsen leads the team in digs with 322 for an average of 3.70 digs per set.
