HAMMOND, Ind. - Mariana Velasque (Rio de Janeiro Brazil) has been named to the GLIAC Midwest Region Crossover All-Tournament Team.

Velasque proved to be a dominant force on the attack for the Lakers at the 2023 Midwest Crossover, helping lead her team to a pair of wins while averaging 5.17 kills per set with a total of 62 kills overall. She was especially strong in the Lakers' straight-set victory over Malone with 6.33 kills per set on a hitting percentage of .500 while also serving four aces in that same match. She was highly efficient on the attack all weekend, never allowing her hitting percentage to drop below .300, and she would also score points for her team on defense with 10 block assists, in total, making her responsible for 71 of her team's 221 total points on the week (32%).

Velasque and the Lakers return to action on Friday, Oct. 20 when they travel to face Grand Valley State with the first serve scheduled for 6 p.m.
