PREVIEW: Lakers Set For GLIAC Weekend Road Trip Against Davenport and Wayne State

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - The Lake Superior State University (LSSU) volleyball team (2-8, 1-1 GLIAC) is set to face the Davenport Panthers (4-6, 1-1 GLIAC) on Friday, Sept. 22, and they will then take on the Wayne State Warriors (3-7, 0-2 GLIAC) in Detroit the following day.

The Lakers are coming off of their first GLIAC victory of the season after coming back from down two sets to one to defeat Saginaw Valley State. The Lakers would also have a historic performance defensively in the victory with the team earning a total of 112 digs on the day which ties the ninth most digs in a single match in program history.

The Panthers are led offensively by Lindsay Taylor with a total of 100 kills. Defensively, the reigning GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week, Stephanie Kalinowski, leads the back row in both digs and digs per set. This match will also be the encounter of the season for the Kalinowski sisters as Laker senior setter Emily Kalinowski (South Lyon, Mich.), who also received GLIAC weekly honors after notching a career-high 58 assists (tied for the seventh most in a match in program history) in a victory over Saginaw Valley, will be looking for her first victory over her sibling at the collegiate level.

The Warriors enter the week on a 3-game losing streak with Molly Miller pacing the offense with a total of 124 kills. Defensively, Kendyl Andrews leads the team with 160 total digs and an average of 4.21 digs per set.
