LSSU Volleyball Falls to Michigan Tech 3-0

HOUGHTON, Mich. -- The Lake Superior State volleyball team traveled to face Michigan Tech in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchup on Friday night, ultimately falling in three sets (25-12, 25-17, 25-18).

With the loss, the Lakers fall to 5-18 overall with a 2-10 record against GLIAC opponents. The Huskies have an overall record of 19-4 and are 11-1 within the conference.

Senior Morgan Kelley, junior Amanda Reid and freshman Kelly Walter tied for the team lead in kills with four.

Freshman setter Halle Grulke leads in assists with 10 and senior Lauren Lukasik was next up with four.

Defensively, Reid led the Lakers in digs with 14, while senior Mikala Williams tallied 12.

For Michigan Tech, Olivia Ghormley led the way on offense with 15 kills on the night. Megan Utlak had the team-high in digs, notching 15.

The Lakers had a .000 hitting percentage, compared to the Huskies' .198.

LSSU returns to the court Saturday on the road against Northern Michigan at 4:30 p.m. for another conference match.

Home action for Lake State volleyball continues next weekend, Oct. 26-27, against Northwood on Friday (6:30 p.m.) and Ferris State on Saturday (2 p.m.).
