Laker Volleyball Drops Home Match to Davenport

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. -- The Lake Superior State volleyball team took on Davenport in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchup on Friday evening, falling in three sets (25-13, 25-14, 28-26).

With the loss, the Lakers fall to 3-15 overall with a 2-8 record against conference opponents. Davenport is now 11-8, 6-4.

Junior Amanda Reid had 14 kills to lead the Lakers offense. Freshman Kelly Walter had six.

Leading the Lakers in assists was senior setter Lauren Lukasik, who finished with 13. Freshman Halle Grulke tallied nine.

Defensively, senior libero Paige Gotham led the way with 17 digs, while Reid finished the night with nine.

For the Panthers, Hayley Kreiger led on offense with seven kills. Kasey Stehouwer led Davenport with 12 digs.

The Lakers had a .017 hitting percentage, while Davenport's was .293.

LSSU returns to the court Saturday, as they host Grand Valley at 2 p.m. for another conference match.
