SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich.—After capturing back-to-back three-set victories last weekend, the Lake Superior State volleyball team will look to carry its momentum into this weekend as they gear up for a two-game Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference home stand inside the Bud Cooper Gymnasium.

On Friday, the Lakers (3-14 overall, 2-7 GLIAC) will take on Davenport (10-8, 5-4) at 6:30 p.m. On Saturday, Lake State welcomes in Grand Valley (11-6, 4-5) at 2 p.m.

Last Time Out:
LSSU picked up their first two league victories of the season last weekend taking down Purdue Northwest and Wisconsin-Parkside in decisive fifth sets.

Junior outside hitter Amanda Reid garnered GLIAC Player of the Week honorable mention after tallying 37 kills, 25 digs and eight blocks in the wins.

By The Numbers:
Reid has paced the Lakers offense this season leading the team with 191 totals kills (2.85/set), which is good for 10th in the GLIAC. Reid is third on the team in hitting percentage at .113.

Freshman middle blocker Kelly Walter is second on the team with 104 kills on the season and leads the team with a .163 hitting percentage.

On defense, senior libero Paige Gotham leads the team and ranks No.9 in the GLIAC with 282 total digs and 4.21 digs per set clip this season. Reid is second with 219 digs while senior Mikala Williams has posted 209.

At the setter position, senior Lauren Lukasik tops the team in assists with 262 on the year. Freshman Halle Grulke has compiled 206.

As a team, the Lakers are hitting at a.085 clip with 635 total kills to start the season. LSSU ranks No.5 in the league in total digs (1102) and digs per set (16.97).

Scouting the Panthers:
Davenport is coming off a weekend split falling to No.6-ranked Ferris State in a fifth set on Friday before sweeping Northwood on Saturday.

The Panthers offense has totaled 806 kills this season and rank No.4 in the conference with a .216 hitting percentage. DU is No.6 in the GLIAC in total digs with 1101.


Jenn Kay VanderMeer paces the Davenport offense with 169 total kills. Ashley VanderHorst is close behind with 168 kills and a team-best .306 hitting percentage.


Scouting GVSU:
The Lakers also split their games last weekend sweeping Northwood on Friday and falling to No.6 Ferris State, 1-3, on Saturday.

GVSU takes on Saginaw Valley in their Friday evening matchup.

Grand Valley enters the weekend with 785 total kills on the season and rank No.5 in the GLIAC in kills per set (12.87) and hitting percentage (.213). Defensively the Lakers are third in digs per set 17.64.

Leading GVSU offensively is Staci Brower with 187 kills on the year and leads the GLIAC with .366 hitting percentage.
