Lakers Fall to Ashland in Three Sets

ASHLAND, Ohio—The Lake Superior State volleyball team fell to Ashland in straight sets (13-25, 17-25, 12-25) in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchup on Saturday afternoon.

The Lakers drop to a 1-12 record overall and 0-5 against conference opponents. Ashland is now 12-2, 5-0.

Junior Amanda Reid and freshman Kelly Walter both led the Lake State offense with six kills each and senior Morgan Kelley had five. Camdyn Odykirk had four kills to go along with a .444 hitting percentage.

On defense, seniors Mikala Williams and Paige Gotham led the way with 15 and 13 digs, respectively.

Lauren Lukasik had the team-high in assists with 14. Halle Grulke had the next-best with eight.

Lake State finished the night with a .035 hitting percentage. Ashland's was .275.

For the Eagles, Shelby Woycik led the way with 16 kills. She also was tied with Erin Krupar for the team high in digs with 15.

The Lakers return to action on the road on Friday against Ferris State (12 p.m.) and then travel to face Northwood on Saturday (2 p.m.). They return home Sept. 28-29 to host Purdue Northwest on Friday (6:30 p.m.) and Wisconsin-Parkside on Saturday (2 p.m.).
